A More Accessible Take on the EON Cashback Formula

The Bank Muamalat EON Visa Platinum-i brings the core cashback structure of its Infinite counterpart to a much wider audience. With a significantly lower income requirement of RM36,000, it is designed for cardholders who want straightforward cashback on overseas and everyday contactless spending—without premium-tier barriers.

The card maintains an unlimited 1% cashback on overseas face-to-face transactions, a rare feature at this income level. For local usage, it offers 3% cashback on contactless spending, capped at RM50 per month. While the contactless rate is lower than the Infinite version’s 5%, the structure remains simple and predictable, making it easy to optimise for routine in-store payments.

As expected for the Platinum tier, airport lounge access has been removed, and travel accident coverage is reduced to RM250,000. However, core protections such as Takaful coverage on outstanding card balances remain intact, alongside practical features like 0% instalment plans and balance transfer facilities.

EON-branded privileges continue to be part of the package, including promotional discounts on EON services, parts, accessories, and official merchandise. While these benefits are niche, they provide added value for cardholders already engaged with the EON ecosystem.

Verdict: The EON Visa Platinum-i is best viewed as a cost-conscious cashback card rather than a premium travel product. It suits users who prioritise overseas spending and contactless payments, want EON-related perks, and prefer a low-maintenance card with an annual fee that is easily waived.
