Review
A Low-Barrier Entry into the Enrich Ecosystem
The AmBank Enrich Visa Platinum Credit Card is the entry-level offering within AmBank’s Malaysia Airlines co-branded portfolio. It is positioned as an accessible introduction to the Enrich ecosystem, with a low income requirement and no annual fee, but with correspondingly modest rewards and benefits.
In terms of earning structure, cardholders receive 1 Enrich Point for every RM3 spent on overseas transactions and Malaysia Airlines purchases. All other local spending and transactions with other airlines earn at a weaker rate of RM7 per Enrich Point. Education, insurance and utility spending earns RM13 per Enrich Point, capped at 8,000 Enrich Points. Several common transaction types, including petrol, government payments, e-wallets and QR payments, are excluded from points earning entirely.
Travel privileges are limited and airline-specific. Cardholders are entitled to 4 complimentary Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge visits per year, restricted to the principal cardholder only and valid only when travelling on flights fully operated by Malaysia Airlines at selected Golden Lounge outlets. Unlike independent lounge programmes, this benefit does not extend to other airlines or airports.
Additional benefits include a 30% reduction in Enrich Elite tier qualification requirements, discounts of up to 12% on Malaysia Airlines-operated flights booked via the Enrich platform, and up to RM500,000 in travel insurance coverage when full airfare is charged to the card.
The card supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. The minimum income requirement is RM24,000 per annum. The card carries a free-for-life annual fee, eliminating any long-term holding cost.
Verdict: The AmBank Enrich Visa Platinum is best suited for users who want a no-cost entry into the Enrich programme and occasionally fly Malaysia Airlines. However, its weak earning rates, restricted lounge access and limited flexibility make it difficult to justify as a primary Enrich miles card. For users focused on efficient mileage accumulation, stronger alternatives exist both within and outside the co-branded category.
