A Lighter Alternative to Affin’s Top-Tier Offering
The AFFIN World Mastercard sits one tier below the INVIKTA series, offering a similar set of travel and lifestyle privileges with reduced earning rates and more accessible maintenance requirements. It is designed for users who want international lounge access and overseas spending rewards without committing to Affin’s highest income threshold.
The card’s rewards structure is straightforward. Cardholders earn 3X AFFIN Rewards Points on overseas transactions and 1X point on local spending, excluding charity, government and petrol transactions. Compared to the INVIKTA’s 5X overseas rate, this represents a clear step-down, positioning the card as a supplementary travel rewards option rather than a mileage-optimised tool.
Travel benefits remain a key highlight. Cardholders receive up to 6 complimentary Plaza Premium Lounge visits per year across Malaysia and selected international locations, including destinations in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Lounge access is available to the principal cardholder only and requires a minimum retail spend of RM3,000 in the latest credit card statement.
Additional lifestyle privileges include golf benefits with complimentary green fees at selected golf courses in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, as well as access to a 24-hour dedicated service line for cardholder support.
Digital wallet support is limited to Google Pay. The minimum income requirement is set at RM80,000 per annum. The principal card carries an annual fee of RM500, with a supplementary card fee of RM400. The annual fee is waived in the first year. In subsequent years, the fee is waived upon meeting either a minimum annual spend of RM48,000 or completing 12 retail transactions per year, regardless of transaction amount.
Verdict: The AFFIN World Mastercard is best suited for users who want consistent international lounge access and overseas spending rewards without the higher income and spend expectations of the INVIKTA series. While its points earning efficiency is modest, its comparatively flexible annual fee waiver conditions make it a more approachable option within Affin’s upper-tier lineup.
