A Still-Relevant Online Cashback Card
The AFFIN DUO Visa Cash Back Credit Card remains one of the more practical online-focused cashback cards in the market, even after several revisions. While its monthly cashback caps are lower than in earlier versions, the card continues to offer genuine 3% cashback on e-commerce transactions, eWallet reloads and transactions, and auto-billing, making it particularly effective for digital-first spending.
Cashback caps are tied to the previous statement balance. Cardholders with a previous balance of RM3,000 or above receive a cashback cap of RM50 per month, while those below RM3,000 are capped at RM30 per month. Importantly, the lower cap does not dilute the cashback rate — spending RM1,000 is sufficient to fully utilise the RM30 cap, preserving the full 3% return for moderate spenders.
Although positioned as an online cashback card, its eligibility for eWallet reloads and transactions allows users to indirectly extend cashback benefits to selected offline spending. This flexibility significantly broadens real-world usability without requiring category management.
The income requirement is accessible at RM24,000 per annum. The card carries an annual fee of RM75, which is waived for the first three years. Thereafter, the annual fee can be waived with a minimum of 12 transactions per year, keeping long-term holding costs manageable.
Verdict: The AFFIN DUO Visa is best suited for users with consistent online and eWallet spending who want dependable cashback without complex rules. While its cap structure is less generous than before, the ability to earn true 3% cashback at relatively low spending levels keeps it highly competitive within its segment.
