The AEON Member Plus (AMP) Gold Credit Card is positioned as the mid-tier option within the AMP series, offering a combination of cashback and points that primarily reward spending within the AEON ecosystem. With a reduced income requirement compared to the Platinum tier, it provides a more accessible entry point for cardholders who regularly shop at AEON but do not require premium-tier benefits.

Cashback benefits are centred around AEON’s retail calendar. Cardholders enjoy 8% cashback on AEON Thank You Day, which takes place on the 20th and 28th of each month, applicable to spending at participating AEON Stores and AEON BiG Hypermarkets, subject to a monthly cap. In addition, the card offers 5% dining cashback, providing value for everyday dining spend. Unlike the Platinum tier, the Gold card does not include cashback for online spending.

Beyond cashback, the card earns AEON Points, which can be redeemed at a fixed rate of 200 points = RM1. At AEON Stores (excluding Thank You Days), cardholders earn 2 bonus AEON Points for every RM2 spent, together with 1 base AEON Point per RM1 as part of member recognition. This results in a total of 4 AEON Points for every RM2 spent, translating to an effective rebate of approximately 1%. Overseas spending earns 3 AEON Points for every RM2 spent, while other eligible retail transactions earn 1 AEON Point per RM4 spent, with common exclusions such as petrol, government-related transactions, utilities and fees.

The AMP Gold also includes lifestyle-oriented benefits. Cardholders receive up to 3 complimentary Plaza Premium Lounge visits per calendar year in Malaysia, subject to a minimum spend of RM500 in single or cumulative transactions within 30 days before and/or after the lounge entry date. Selected AEON Malls and AEON BiG Hypermarkets offer up to 2 hours of parking rebates when using the card.

The income requirement for the Gold tier is set at RM36,000 per annum. The card carries an annual fee of RM95, which is waived in the first year. In subsequent years, the annual fee is waived upon meeting a minimum of 12 transactions per year.

Verdict: The AEON Member Plus Gold is best suited for AEON shoppers who want consistent Thank You Day cashback and dining rebates without committing to the higher income threshold of the Platinum tier. While its rewards are tightly focused on AEON and dining spend, it remains a practical lifestyle card for users embedded in the AEON retail ecosystem.
